Reflection for September 19 Friday of the 24th Week in Ordinary Time: Luke 8:1-3

Gospel: Luke 8:1-3
Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.

Accompanying him were the twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

Reflection:
Do you want to follow Jesus?

As an itinerant preacher and healer, Jesus was always with a group of people: they were His followers and perhaps His logistical and emotional support system as well. They were always there for Jesus, ever ready to help and support Him in whatever way possible.

Who does Jesus represent today? He is represented by anyone who humbly, effectively, and truthfully proclaims His teachings. He could be your friend, father, mother, brother, priest, pastor, or anyone who faithfully follows Him.

Any one of us can follow Jesus. Nobody, in fact, is being prevented from following Him. Why? Because when you decide to follow Jesus, your life will begin to have direction. Your perspective about life will change as well. This is the miracle that occurs when someone decides to follow the Lord.

Some of your ailments will also be cured—most especially ailments of the mind, spirit, and emotions. This is the miracle that happens when a person decides to faithfully follow Jesus.

Following Jesus is not about perfection; it is about surrender. It is about walking with Him daily, even when life feels heavy, uncertain, or painful. To follow Jesus is to allow Him to transform your heart, guide your steps, and use your life as a light for others.

Would you faithfully follow the Lord—not only when it is convenient, but even when it requires sacrifice and trust? – Marino J. Dasmarinas
