When we choose God over money, when we distance ourselves from friends or even relatives who do not lead us closer to what is good, and when we decide to spend our time and energy working for the greater glory of God, the world may not understand us. To many, such choices seem unreasonable, even foolish.
But if we pause and reflect, who is truly out of their minds? Is it those who invest their lives in God and His Kingdom, or those who pour out their lives only for this passing world? If we fix our hearts solely on worldly things, what will become of us when our life on earth comes to an end? Where will we find ourselves if we allow worldliness to possess our hearts and define our desires?
Even Jesus Himself was once labeled as being out of His mind because of His great zeal for the mission entrusted to Him by the Father. He allowed His whole life to be consumed not by comfort, not by popularity, and not by worldly success, but by love, obedience, and the salvation of souls.
And so it will be with us. There will always be people who will not understand why we live the way we do, why we choose sacrifice over comfort, and why we choose God over everything else.
But we must not grow weary. We must continue to walk forward, trusting that what we do for the greater glory of God is never in vain. Let us pray for those who do not understand us—and even for those who refuse to understand—because they, too, are loved by God.
In the end, the real question is not whether the world thinks we are “out of our minds,” but this: Are we truly willing to let our lives be completely possessed by God and His mission, or are we still holding back because we are afraid of what others will say about us? —Marino J. Dasmarinas
