Jesus said to his disciples: “In praying, do
not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their
many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask
him.
“This is how you are to pray: ‘Our Father who
art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.’ “If you forgive others their
transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not
forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”

Reflection:
What is the prayer that reaches God? It’s
prayer that comes from the heart and a prayer made in the silence of your
heart. It could be a long or short prayer that comes straight from your heart.
Jesus gives us the perfect prayer called the
Our Father. This is called the perfect prayer because it comes from Him and
Jesus gave it to us. Jesus Himself taught us to pray it. Do we pray this
with our hearts or we simply pray it with our minds wandering elsewhere?
Recall when you’re at Holy Mass, how do you
pray the Our Father or the Lord’s Prayer? Do you Pray it with closed eyes
or with open eyes? The best way to pray this perfect prayer is with closed
eyes. Because when you close your eyes you shut yourself from any form of
distraction.
Deep in your heart you seek to connect with
God and you hunger and thirst for this God. Most especially when you pass
through moments of loneliness and disillusionment. Why? Because God alone
gives meaning to your life.
Close your eyes now and seek to connect with
Jesus by silently praying the Our Father. - Marino J. Dasmarinas
