Reflection for April 30, Saturday of the Fifth Week of Easter, John 15:18-21

Gospel: John 15:18-21
Jesus said to his disciples: “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.”

Reflection:
Where do you belong? Do you belong to this world or you belong to Jesus?

The world has many enticements for you to love it, these enticements maybe: money, ambition, self-centeredness, ego, popularity, power, women, lust, etc. If you will let it captivate  you,  you will slowly but surely be embracing it with all of your being. Eventually you will be captured by its lies until it destroys you.

What this world offers has a very short shelf life it has expiration and you too will eventually expire. And soon after God will measure you with his standards, surely you will not be able to measure-up for the simple reason that you love this world more than God.

In the gospel Jesus is telling you that you don’t belong to this world, you belong to Him! However Jesus has also given you also the freedom of choice and it’s all up to you actually. However, you   need to be reminded that the things of this world are temporary it has an end and it will not bring you peace of mind.

The kingdom of God is heavenly eternal, peaceful and it has no end. – Marino J. Dasmarinas
